Please come back to BibleMemory.us

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Hello current and former members.

For a while some of you were plagued with the following error message when accessing your memory verse:

The API key and server URL do not match the eBible.com records

I’ve pretty much fixed that problem, and if you still get it, I can immediately fix it (if I’m online when I get the email).

So, with that said, please come back if you’ve left the program or given up!  I’m sorry for the frustration this may have caused, but it was necessary (unfortunately) so this program could allow more than 1 verse at a time to be memorized, such as Ephesians 2:8,9.  The way the program was originally designed, only one verse at a time could be memorized, so famous pairs (or more) of verses  couldn’t be used in this program.  No more!

Thanks,

Robert

How doe the internet work, anyway?

Friday, October 12th, 2007

I know you’ve been curious- how exactly does the internet work?  What happens when I enter a web site address in my browser?

Here’s a 20 minute video that explains that process.  It’s not boring (well, to me anyway!), and the narrator’s cool British accent really helps keep your attention.  Check it out!

Do you review?

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

My daughter is going through the basic BibleMemory program.  I asked her if she ever reviewed her verses and she said that she didn’t know how.  I wonder if there is anyone else out there like that.

Here’s what you do:
Go to the BibleMemory.us home page and click “Member Login.”  Then, enter your email address.  At the member home page, click “Review all my learned verses.”

Do it today!  It’s fun, and can be humbling!

Reality Show - The Next Internet Millionaire

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Hello Everyone!

I’m not a big reality show fan, but when there’s someone out there being a godly example to the world in that context, I like to support them.

There’s this web-based reality show called “The Next Internet Millionaire.” A young Christian man is trying to win it and so far, he’s been an fine witness for Christ. Not only that, but he has noble intentions for winning this prize- he’d like to allow his wife to stay at home and raise their family, rather than work outside the home. Not an easy feat here in New Jersey.

We know his wife and her family from a church we used to attend. They’re good folks.

Here’s the web site and his video request for votes. His name is Jason Marshall. Check it out and vote “10.”

Thanks, and have a great weekend!

RSS?

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

You may have noticed that I kind of push RSS delivery for the BibleMemory program. I think it’s great- not just for this program, but for web surfing in general.

Some have asked me what exactly is RSS? This video is a good 3 minute explanation. Take a few minutes and check it out!

Thanks to Jeff at worldsareapart.wordpress.com for posting about this video.

You’re an obsessive-compulsive computer user if you…

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

This is a list of things that I’m often guilty of.  Are you obsessive-compulsive when it comes to computer usage?

Do you do three or more of the following?

1. Clean out your recycle/trash bin as soon as you delete something?

2. Get irritated if there are more than 3-5 emails in your inbox?

3. If you use Ubuntu, are you constantly installing updates as soon as they appear in order to get that little orange icon off the screen, but are too lazy to set it to update automatically?

4. Delete all your Gmail spam, because the high number is bugging you?

5. Are you a Wordpress blogger and get irritated when you make a comment on a non-Wordpress blog?

7. Do you get irritated with people who don’t back up their photos, documents, etc. because you have back ups of all your stuff at least twice?

8. Don’t ya hate it when you minimize your Firefox or IE on a tab that’s not Gmail (or some other web-based email program), then you don’t know how many emails are in your inbox?

9. Do you leave your email logged in all day and look at it in the toolbar at least twice a minute to check if the inbox has any email, then immediately look at it if you do, stopping everything you’re doing?

10.  Are you a person who won’t sign up for Twitter because you know you’ll be doing it all day long?

11. Are you are irritated that Yahoo Photos is shutting down, because you’re so used to it, even though it’s probably the lamest online photo service?

12. You’re annoyed when you sign up for paperless statements with a credit card company and they still send snail mail statements.

13. You would never use Google Gears because you’re always online.

14. You’re a person who stares at your last IM with someone, waiting until they come back from being idle or away, so you can pounce on them with a new message as soon as they return.

15. Do you check your Google Reader (or some other feed reader) constantly, just to keep the number of unread feeds lower that 100+?

If you answered in the affirmative to three or more of the above, you need help. Your family probably doesn’t like you, and you’re probably guilty of deleting important documents, because they don’t fit in with your document naming scheme.
